Valle Crucis Abbey is a beautiful and historically significant ruined Cistercian monastery located near Llangollen, in Denbighshire, North Wales. Its name means “Valley of the Cross” in Latin — a reference to an early stone cross that once stood nearby (the Pillar of Eliseg, which still survives a short distance away).
