Morocco recites the Qur’an in Warsh ʿan Nāfiʿ, not in the Ḥafṣ ʿan ʿĀṣim version used by most of the Muslim world. This is one of 20 canonical riwāyāt within the ten accepted Qirāʾāt — oral transmission traditions tracing back to the Prophet ﷺ (al-Suyūṭī, al-Itqān).
