Bob Weir, guitarist, singer and founding member of the Grateful Dead, died Saturday January 10th at 78 years old. Born in San Francisco and raised in Atherton, Weir joined the Grateful Dead in 1965 when they were known as the Warlocks. He had recently played played a series of concerts for the Grateful Dead’s 60th anniversary in July at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco with the group Dead and Company.
