Jun 25, 2024 · To me the Golf R has always felt too sedate and sensible to be properly enjoyed as a drivers car. I've driven a MK7 DSG and a MK6 Manual and the manual whilst rubbery and having a pretty dull feel was still such a more enjoyable experience than throwing the DSG into a corner and feeling like the car is doing everything for you.

I owned two Audis long term before coming back to a Volkswagen. My 23 R is my fourth VW overall and my 3rd golf. I really enjoy the car. I love the way the car handles/drives. I added a short shifter in within 30 days of ownership and that was a game changer. Then I drove the car without other modifications for the first year.

Mar 13, 2018 · Hey guys. I got my new 2018 Golf R 2 weeks ago after my 2015 GTI was totaled in an accident. How are people finding the reliability of the Golf R after a few years of ownership/any known issues? My GTI was super reliable engine wise (81K on it), never had an issue but the air conditioning broke twice on it.
