Boston University had the most awkward reaction to its opening NCAA softball tournament matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Boston University earned an automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament by winning the Patriot League on Sunday, but the Terriers will now face their steepest challenge in program history.

The Sooners were seeded second behind Texas A&M even though Oklahoma won the SEC regular season title. For the second straight year, Oklahoma is headed to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2-overall seed. Last year, the Sooners dropped the regular season series to Texas before avenging that loss to win the Big 12 Tournament.

The NCAA Tournament brackets will be decided with Texas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M awaiting their postseason fates.

Texas A&M has earned the overall No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division I softball tournament. The Aggies beat out four-time defending national champion Oklahoma for the top spot and leading seven Southeastern Conference teams seeded in the top eight.

The Sooners won the SEC regular season title and ended the SEC Tournament as co-champions, all but assuring they'll earn a top eight seed on Sunday.
