According to a Facebook post from CHP, scammers are posing as "AMBER Alert representatives" and telling parents they will register their children. They then ask for confidential information and to go to the parents' homes.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office (SMCSO) said it is closely monitoring an Amber Alert phone scam that seems to be targeting Hispanic residents. According to SMCSO, residents should be on the lookout for scammers posing as Amber Alert reps who offer to register their children through the alert system.
