President-elect Donald Trump’s naming of Mel Gibson as one of his “special envoys” to Hollywood surprised many, including Gibson himself. Trump on Thursday said Gibson and his fellow pro-Trump actors Sylvester Stallone and Jon Voight would act as his “eyes and ears” in the industry.

"I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised. Nevertheless, I heed the call,” said Gibson in a statement.

Gibson, the legendary Hollywood actor, said he was "just as surprised" that Trump named him one of three stars to serve as "ambassador" to Hollywood.

Gibson's next film, Flight Risk, arrives Jan. 24. The thriller stars Mark Wahlberg, Topher Grace, and Michelle Dockery. He has also said that next year, he plans to shoot The Resurrection of the Christ, a sequel to his 2004 hit The Passion of the Christ.

"Mr. Ambassador" - that is the title actor Jon Voight is to be given, who, along with Sylvester Stallone and Mel Gibson, was chosen by Donald Trump for a special project. Their mission is to transform Hollywood.
