Grace City opened its doors as a Hillsong family church September 2015. As of April 1, the Grace City Church website had removed the statement that they are a Hillsong family church.

In September 2015, Grace City launched at the former Westminster Presbyterian Church at 730 S. Florida Ave., a Gothic-style structure with a brick exterior dating to 1925.
