The U.S. trade deficit with Vietnam exceeded $110 billion in the first 11 months of 2024, latest U.S. figures show, as exports from the Southeast Asian industrial hub grew amid a record fall of its currency against the dollar.

The US trade deficit widened in November, reflecting the biggest jump in imports since March 2022 as companies accelerated shipments ahead of a possible dockworkers’ strike and in anticipation of potential tariffs by the Trump administration.

Canada recorded a ninth consecutive monthly trade deficit in November, albeit smaller than expected, as exports rose faster than imports, and its trade surplus with the United States widened, data showed on Tuesday.
