Potential super typhoon Uwan nears Luzon
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is currently monitoring a developing storm east of Mindanao that is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility as Typhoon Uwan by tonight or early tomorrow and may intensify into a super typhoon while approaching Northern Luzon.

Still reeling from the disaster of Typhoon Kalmaegi (formerly Tino), the Philippines may be hit by a super typhoon during the weekend as Tropical Storm Fung-Wong heads towards Luzon, PAGASA said on Thursday,

Kalmaegi, Asia's most powerful tropical storm this year, forced six of Vietnam's airports to close ahead of its arrival.
Tropical Storm Fung-Wong (to be named Uwan once it enters the country) is expected to strengthen into a super typhoon this weekend. In its latest bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) noted the storm is moving northwest at 10 kilometers per hour with winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching 90 kph.
