School officials from across Texas told lawmakers on Wednesday that they’re not receiving enough money from the state to comply with House Bill 3.
Here’s what happens in Texas if a student threatens their school
Under Texas law, threatening a school is a felony offense, even if it isn’t acted upon. According to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, students who make threats to a school can be arrested, have a permanent criminal record, face heavy fines, and possibly go to jail.
Officials respond to East Texas school threats
More than 10 threats have been made against East Texas schools since Sept. 3 and officials are letting students and parents know that they are taking the matter seriously. Several arrests have been made and people behind them are being prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
