A second minor earthquake has rattled the New York metropolitan area within several days. The 2.7 magnitude quake struck Tuesday afternoon near Hillsdale, New Jersey, northwest of the Bronx.

Tuesday’s magnitude 2.7 earthquake was recorded just south of Hillsdale, N.J. — about 25 miles northwest of Midtown Manhattan — at 12:11 p.m., officials said. The tremor originated roughly 7 miles beneath the surface.

Tuesday's incident comes on the heels of a 3.0-magnitude earthquake in Bergen County's Hasbrouck Heights Saturday night rattled parts of New Jersey and New York. Satuday night's earthquake was felt up to 65 miles away, in parts of New York's Lower Hudson Valley and western Connecticut.
