Qatar's Prime Minister said in Davos on Tuesday he hoped the Palestinian Authority would return to play a governing role in Gaza once the war with Israel comes to an end.

While the ceasefire agreement did not address Gaza’s post-war governance, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that any solution must come from the Palestinians themselves. The PA, dominated by the Fatah faction, has faced opposition from Hamas since being driven out of Gaza in 2007.

JERUSALEM - A ceasefire in the Gaza war will begin at 8.30am (2.30pm Singapore time) on Jan 19, mediator Qatar has said after Israel’s Cabinet voted to approve the ceasefire and hostage-prisoner release deal.
