Foote believes his familiarity with the Vancouver Canucks will ease the transition into his first NHL head coaching job.

Adam Foote, a defenseman for 19 NHL seasons, was named coach of the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday after serving as an assistant coach for the club the past three seasons.

“This franchise cannot afford to lose a guy like Quinn Hughes,” Rutherford said. “We will do everything we can to keep him here, but at the end of the day, it’ll be his decision.”
