FBI director Kash Patel was confirmed 51-49. He is a staunch ally of President Donald Trump who has called for profound changes at the bureau.

Patel was narrowly confirmed by the Senate on Thursday in a 51-49 vote. It was the most narrowly divided confirmation vote for an FBI director in history. By contrast, previous FBI chief Christopher Wray was confirmed 92-5. James Comey was confirmed 93-1 and Robert Mueller 98-0.

The Senate voted 51–49 Thursday to confirm Kash Patel to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski were the two lone Republicans to join a unified caucus of Democrats against Patel’s nomination.
