City comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander was arrested by ICE agents Tuesday in a chaotic scene outside a federal immigration court, his mayoral campaign confirmed.

Mayor Eric Adams on Monday addressed the recent protests in Los Angeles over ICE policies, saying similar violence in the in New York City will not be tolerated.

Mr. Lander, the New York City comptroller and a candidate for mayor, was handcuffed as he tried to steer a man past Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.
