A total lunar eclipse will make the moon appear red across the Western Hemisphere during the "Blood Worm Moon" this week.

In freshwater lakes across the land, baitfish such as live shiners have displaced the worm as the go-to bait. But the worm remains a classic option.

On the morning of Friday, March 14 -- the day of the full Worm Moon -- the moon will be 12 degrees above the western horizon as twilight begins at 6:23 a.m. EDT. No planets will be visible at that time, NASA said.
