Edmonton's Connor McDavid and Toronto's Tyler Myers will have disciplinary hearings with the league after being penalized for cross-checking in Saturday's game.

Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety for cross-checking Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland on Saturday.

Tensions reached a boiling point at the end of last night's Oilers-Canucks game, and both Connor McDavid and Tyler Myers will face automatic hearings later on.

The Edmonton Oilers may be without Connor McDavid as he faces a hearing following a cross-checking incident against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Oilers captain was given a major penalty in the dying seconds of the team’s 3-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. This was due to McDavid cross-checking Canucks forward Conor Garland in the head following a lengthy battle between the two in the middle of the Vancouver zone.

As the two men rose back to their feet, McDavid would load up for a nasty cross-check to the head of Garland, catching him right across the face as he drove his stick into the head of his opponent. Garland looked furious at the blow and it was enough to earn McDavid a match penalty from the officials on the ice.

The captain was assessed a match penalty for the incident, which comes with an automatic suspension pending a review by the commissioner.
