A date has been set for a special election to replace state Rep. Josh Siegel, who won election in November to become the next Lehigh County executive.

Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt certified the results Monday after county officials confirmed the accuracy of their reported results.

A lawsuit by independent voters including commentator Michael Smerconish is seeking to end Pennsylvania’s closed primary election system, which prohibits them from participating.
