BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - There’s a number of significant issues and federal positions at stake in the 2026 midterm. The most-watched race in the region will be for Montana’s Senate seat as Senator Steve Daines’ seat is up. Montana also has two house seats up for election, currently held by Troy Downing and Ryan Zinke.
Former U.S. House candidate Alex Balazs has announced another attempt to run for North Dakota’s seat in the House of Representatives.
Balazs, of Cando, received the endorsement of North Dakota Republicans for the open U.S. House seat during the 2024 state convention in Fargo. However, the support came after Fedorchak withdrew her name from consideration.
FARGO – At their state convention in December, the League of Women Voters of North Dakota (LWVND) installed new officers and state board members. Elected to a two-year term as state president is Kathy Tweeten of Bismarck. Tweeten has been active with the Bismarck-Mandan chapter and previously served on the state board of directors.
The North Dakota Wheat Commission has announced upcoming elections for county representatives in the South Central (District 3) and Northeast (District 6) regions. These elections offer local producers a direct voice in how wheat checkoff funds are invested to benefit local producers.
