Jeremy Strong is feeling nostalgic upon learning about his first-ever Oscar nomination for his performance as lawyer and fixer Roy Cohn in “The Apprentice,” a dramatization about President Donald Trump’s life as a business mogul in the ’70s and ‘80s.

The film academy had plenty of surprise nominations Thursday for the 97th Oscars. The 2025 show is one of the more wide-open fields in recent history.

Jeremy Strong, known for his roles in "Succession" and "The Big Short," was nominated for an Oscar for his role in "The Apprentice," playing Roy Cohn, the mentor to Sebastian Stan 's Donald Trump in the film.
