The New York Islanders have already made a big move on Thursday, as they have sent Brock Nelson along with William Dufour to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Calum Ritchie, Oliver Kylington, a pair of first-round picks (2026 and 2027) and a conditional pick in the third round of the 2028 NHL draft.

The Colorado Avalanche made one last move before the NHL trade deadline, and it was a familiar face. He has played 22 games for the Flyers this season. Adding him gives the Avs another depth option on defense after dealing away Oliver Kylington on Thursday night in the Brock Nelson trade.

Colorado Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland said Monday he wasn’t sure if he had another trade in him this week.

The Avalanche have acquired Brock Nelson of the Islanders, the most coveted center available ahead of Friday's NHL trade deadline.

The head vs. heart calculus which has tugged at the Islanders’ decision-making, or lack thereof, over the last month finally hit an inflection point.

The Avalanche sent top prospect Calum Ritchie to the Islanders in the deal, as well as a future first-round pick.

The veteran defenseman in one day was traded from the Colorado Avalanche to the New York Islanders, who then flipped him to the Ducks for future considerations

Kylington, Calum Ritchie, a conditional first-round pick and a conditional 2028 third-round selection were acquired by the Islanders from Colorado on Thursday in exchange for William Dufour and Brock Nelson.
