The steer has been the official mascot of UT for nearly 110 years. The original Bevo made his debut during the 1916 Thanksgiving Day game against Texas A&M.

Bevo XV made his debut in 2016, following the death of Bevo XIV, who served as the Longhorns' mascot from 2004 to 2015.
