Eleven people in Florida, including one in Lee County, have contracted Vibrio vulnificus, the so-called "flesh-eating" bacteria in 2025.

Florida officials warn about Vibrio vulnificus, a flesh-eating bacteria found in warm water that has caused four deaths this year. The bacteria can enter through wounds or raw oyster consumption.

South Florida will see partly cloudy skies Wednesday with highs of about 90 degrees. It will be humid with a chance of scattered storms Wednesday afternoon and evening. On Thursday, a little extra moisture will invade the area, with impact weather possible. The weekend will be hot, sunny and dry with highs in the low 90s.
