The ice at Xcel Energy Center was decorated with hats Wednesday night as Joel Eriksson Ek and Kirill Kaprizov returned from injuries to power the Minnesota Wild in an explosive offensive showing (and horrible defensive showing) and an 8-7 win overtime over the San Jose Sharks.
The Canadiens drafted Demidov with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2024 NHL draft. The forward posted 49 points in 65 games this season in the KHL—the highest total ever recorded by a player under 20 in the league, surpassing Kaprizov’s mark of 42 from the 2016-17 season.
