KERRVILLE, Texas (AP) — Over the last decade, an array of Texas state and local agencies missed opportunities to fund a flood warning system intended to avert a disaster like the one that killed dozens of young campers and scores of others in Kerr County on the Fourth of July.
Jeff and Amber Wilson lost their lives in the flooding. As of Wednesday, July 9, their son, Shiloh, remains missing. According to a fundraising page set up by family, Jeff, Amber and Shiloh were in the Kerville area for a rodeo with Shiloh, who was described as a "young, spirited competitor." Jeff Wilson was a teacher in the Humble ISD.
On Thursday at 12:36 p.m. the NWS Raleigh NC issued a flood warning valid from 1 p.m. until Friday 8 a.m. for Johnston County.
The warning is in effect until 9 a.m. for Boston and several communities south of the city, according to the National Weather Service.
