Louisiana set a new record for the first day of early voting, slightly exceeding its total from four years ago when officials had to take measures for the coronavirus pandemic. A total of 176,882 voters cast ballots Friday for the Nov.

Louisiana voters can now cast ballots in the presidential election. “You do not need a reason to vote early! All voters may vote early, just like they are voting on election day,” according to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website.

Jefferson Parish voters also outpaced other large parishes like New Orleans with 7,787 voters on the first day of early voting, East Baton Rouge which tallied 7,528 voters and St. Tammany which managed 7,796 voters.
