Anthropic's new fundraise will make CEO Dario Amodei, president Daniela Amodei and their five cofounders all billionaires. Forbes estimates each to hold 2% equity stakes.

CNBC and the Wall Street Journal cited sources as saying that investment could value the company at $60 billion. That’s more than three times the valuation Anthropic received last year in a funding round led by Menlo Ventures. Lightspeed Venture Partners is said to be leading the company’s latest raise.

Anthropic may be joining rival OpenAI with its own eye-popping valuation, but the hefty valuations for the two biggest AI startups obscure the fact that, for now, these companies are burning through billions in cash.
