The Washington Capitals are celebrating Black History Month with a fresh look. On Feb. 5, the team unveiled the design for its Black History Month specialty jerseys during a discussion panel with Howard University.

The specialty jersey, designed by The Museum DC, debuted concurrently with the Celebrating Black Hockey – Pathways to Hockey panel as an homage to Black history and culture in Washington, D.C.

The Capitals is celebrating Black History Month with a new jersey. Highlighting the colors of the Pan-African flag, the jerseys were designed by Museum DC.

The Capitals unveiled their “Celebrating Black History” jersey at their practice facility on Wednesday and hosted a panel discussion about pathways to hockey as well as a skate for a group of students, faculty and staff from Howard University, a historically Black institution in Washington.
