Southern California firefighters are battling two major wildfires, the Springs Fire and the Crown Fire, which are spreading rapidly under dangerously dry and windy conditions.
The Springs Fire in Moreno Valley rapidly grew to 50 acres within an hour, driven by strong winds and crossing Gilman Springs Road. Evacuation orders have been requested, and additional firefighting resources have been deployed as the fire remains uncontained.

The blaze reported Friday was initially estimated at roughly 5 acres but quickly spread, reaching more than 2,800 acres by 3:15 p.m.
