Buffalo Bills sign DT Tommy Akingbesote
Akingbesote was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in Round 7 of the 2025 NFL Draft. He was released as part of final roster cutdowns on August 26, at which point he became a free agent and signed with the Carolina Panthers on September 8. The Panthers ultimately released Akingbesote on September 23.
The Buffalo Bills signed rookie defensive lineman Tommy Akingbesote to their practice squad after losing Ed Oliver to injury.

Despite those moves, Buffalo wasn’t done looking to bolster the defensive ranks. Per a report by Ryan Talbot, the Bills also hosted four defensive linemen, which included defensive tackles Tommy Akingbesote and Ben Stille, plus nose tackles Keondre Coburn and Raekwon Davis.

The Bills activated rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston from injured reserve on Saturday, the team announced. Hairston has yet to see any action this season as Buffalo placed him on injured reserve on Aug. 26 with a knee injury.
Oliver, who was selected with the ninth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Bills, is in his seventh year with Buffalo. In his career, Oliver has totaled 243 tackles, 56 tackles for loss, 30 sacks and nine forced fumbles.
