Liverpool are pushing to complete the signing of record-breaking arrival Florian Wirtz, and have pencilled in a medical for the German international.

Liverpool’s continued engagement with Leverkusen over recent weeks has also coincided with major changes at the German club. Head coach Xabi Alonso has taken over at Real Madrid, replacing Carlo Ancelotti. Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been appointed to lead Leverkusen through the next phase of their development.

Florian Wirtz is set for a medical on Friday ahead of completing his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool. The plan, as things stand, is for Wirtz to arrive in the United Kingdom later this week ahead of the medical.
