The Islanders want more Long Island youths, particularly girls, to experience playing hockey. The organization on Friday announced a “significant expansion” of its commitment to youth hockey, including its first Girls Hockey Weekend on Saturday and Sunday at The Park at UBS Arena as well as Try Hockey for Free events.

The New York Islanders today announce a significant expansion of the franchise’s commitment to youth hockey, with a specific focus on increasing opportunities for girls. As part of the team’s ongoing efforts to make hockey more accessible and inclusive, the Islanders will implement new initiatives aimed at fostering gender equity within the sport.

With assistance from corporate partners JetBlue, Global Industrial and Xerox, the Islanders’ efforts in making hockey more accessible and inclusive, new initiatives have been established.
