Former state Sen. Paula Hollinger died Wednesday in Sarasota, Florida, after a short battle with leukemia. She was 85.

Paula C. Hollinger, a former nurse who fought for medical reforms and reproductive rights during a long career in the Maryland House and Senate, died March 25.
