Luckily, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism has stated that it’s going to put more regulations in place to protect the pigs. Animal-loving travelers can all do their part to help, too.

Tourists flock from the nearby resorts to see the famous Pig Beach and feed its inhabitants. In 2017, there was controversy when around ten of the pigs were found dead.

In December 2023, a female tourist from Boston was killed by a shark, while paddle boarding in the Bahamas. That woman was only 44 years-old and was attacked off the coast of New Providence island.
