The latest iPhone update has landed. Unusually for a minor point update, it includes features that aren’t just security concerns.
In addition to the low-cost MacBook, Apple unveiled the iPhone 17e, which is the entry-level iPhone in the lineup and replaces last year’s iPhone 16e. The new base model offers a few noteworthy improvements over the previous version.
The iPhone 17e, announced March 2, is built around Apple's latest-generation A19 chip — the same processor powering the flagship iPhone 17 lineup. It also adds C1X, a next-generation cellular modem the company says is roughly twice as fast as the modem in the iPhone 16e.
The same report that first mentioned the red iPhone 18 Pro also said that for the first folding iPhone, Apple will “stay away from fun colors,” it said. Instead, the Fold will be revealed in more traditional colors such as black and silver.
