SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA - Tuesday afternoon, a preliminary 2.5 magnitude quake was detected near Woodside, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

On Thursday night, a second earthquake was reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The quake’s magnitude was 2.6, and a depth of 5 km, or about 3.1 miles. It happened at 8:02 p.m. according to the USGS.

Since Thursday, at least 131 earthquakes have been recorded — as small as magnitude 0.2 and as big as magnitude 4 — in the Geysers geothermal steam field in Sonoma and Lake counties.

The recent, small earthquakes that rattled the New York metro area serve as a reminder that seismic activity does occur in the region.

SHELBY COUNTY, Texas — The United States Geological Service (USGS) reported another earthquake in Shelby County just past 9 p.m. The 2.6 magnitude earthquake was near the Toledo Bend Reservoir. Shelby County was struck by a 3.0 magnitude earthquake earlier today at around 4:15 p.m.
