Goldman Sachs said on Wednesday that copper shipments into the United States are expected to accelerate in the coming weeks following U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of a 50% tariff on imported copper.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he will announce a 50% tariff on copper later in the day, aiming to boost U.S. production of a metal critical to electric vehicles, military hardware, the power grid and many consumer goods.

This copper tariff marks the fourth general tariff imposed by Trump during his second term. Previously, imported automobiles and parts faced a 25% tariff, while steel and aluminum imports were subjected to a 50% tariff.
