A new study has suggested that reintroducing grey wolves to the Scottish Highlands could have a huge positive impact on its woodlands and Scotland’s efforts to achieve net-zero.

According to the team, the newly grown woodlands could take up to 1 million tons of CO 2 every year, accounting for around 5 percent of the carbon removal target for UK woodlands, or 6,080 metric tons of CO 2 per wolf per year. At the current cost of "removing" carbon, that makes each wolf's financial "worth" around £154,000.
