Measure B, the South Placer County ballot measure that would slightly increase the local sales tax to fund road projects with 52% of the money going toward highways and road widening, was ahead in early returns Tuesday night. The transportation tax increase needs a two-thirds majority of the vote to pass and had just under that — 65%.

California voters in Placer County are deciding on a host of local races and measures. As one of Northern California's fastest-growing regions, school district elections will be closely watched. Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln will also be jointly deciding on Measure B, a tax measure that aims to reduce traffic congestion.

Sac County voters have decided not to fund the replacement of the county jail, but will fund EMS services. Sac County Public Measure A has passed and Public Measure B has failed, according to unofficial election results.
