North Yankton plus zombies seems to have been a big enough deal for a whopping 400,000 GTA Online players to quickly jump into the mode within its first 24 hours, according to GTA

Zombies are creeping into GTA Online for the very first time in a new mode that sends us back to an under-utilized area from GTA 5's campaign.

For the first time in GTA 5 history, Rockstar is bringing the forces of the undead to its open world crime simulator. A new limited time mode will bring zombies to the game’s online mode as well as returning to North Yankton.

It’s spooky season, and Rockstar’s added a new event to its eternally popular GTA Online mode. The game takes you back to the snowy peaks of North Yankton, where the familiar backdrop of the Ludendorff Cemetery has been transformed into a battleground against the undead.

On 10th October, Rockstar launched a new survival mode and a community challenge that took us back to North Yankton to collectively slay 80 million zombies in order to unlock "special gifts", including a spooky-season appropriate Orange Glow Skeleton Onesie and the Red Hooded Skull Mask.

It’s arguable that GTA Online’s Halloween event is proving somewhat popular. The zombie-slaughtering North Yankton Nightmare, added to the game along with GTA V’s opening location, Ludendorff, has been so popular Rockstar had to increase the community challenge goals ten-fold.
