COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Former Ohio Gov. Bob Taft, scion of one of the state’s best-known Republican families, threw his support Sunday behind Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in his hotly contested reelection race against GOP nominee Bernie Moreno.

A former Ohio governor has endorsed a Democratic senator in his reelection bid, choosing him over the Trump-supported GOP rival.

The only Democratic lawmaker elected statewide in Ohio seeks a fourth term in a race that could determine which party controls the Senate.

Former Ohio Gov. Bob Taft (R) threw his support behind Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown (Ohio) in his closely watched reelection bid for the U.S. Senate. In a letter to the editor published Sunday in the Dayton Daily News,
